KNX topology has no limits on the size and scale of buildings in which it can be used. It is equally suitable for large commercial projects as it is for residential buildings.

One KNX line can support up to 64 KNX devices using one power supply. These lines can be repeated and cascaded to cover multiple KNX lines of 64 devices using IP or KNX backbones. In this way, the size of the system is practically unlimited.

KNX is extremely efficient at communicating with other systems and protocols because there are many established gateways from many vendors. These include OPC, SCADA, BACnet, DALI and other servers. These interfaces and gateways are widely used around the world and have been tried and tested.

Interface Connectivity:

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of gateways based on established, proprietary systems from manufacturers offering their own gateways for KNX. When considering such a solution, you should take into account whether the gateway is truly KNX certified and the benefits of working with a single manufacturer's proprietary solution, as this could be counterintuitive to the power of KNX, i.e. manufacturer independence.
